Jinxed! Big, Bigger, Biggest!

Ok I am sure you have heard by now how Plaxico Burress predicted a 23-17 Giants win and guaranteed it, too. "You have to believe in your team," said Burress. Did he jinx the Giants though in the same fashion Anthony Smith did the Steelers?

The Patriots, usually fueled by comments like this, were actually calm in nature over it. QB Tom Brady was disappointed in the 23 to 17 score prediction. "We're only going to score 17 points?" Brady said. "Does Plaxico play defense? I wish he said 45-42, or something like that."

WR Randy Moss also chimed in on the prediction. "He's entitled to say anything, but the only thing about a prediction is that you have got to make it happen. I think the pressure is more on them now since they've guaranteed this victory. We're going to go out there and try to execute a game-plan. We've prepared very hard for the last week and a half and we still have got a couple more days to get out there and tone some things up, but making a prediction that you are going to go out there and make it happen are very tough words to back up. So like I said, we'll see when the game clock is zero on Sunday."

Do not fault Plaxico for being confident in his team. I would not expect any less from him or his teammates, especially with the success they are having during the playoffs. His level of confidence though doesn't even come close when compared to the City of Boston. The mayor of Boston is already in the midst of planning a victory parade for Tuesday (I am sure the NY Mayor is probably doing the same thing though). Not to be outdone, the Boston Globe offered advance sales on Amazon.com of a new Patriots book called: "19-0: The Historic Championship Season of New England's Unbeatable Patriots." Don't you need to win the Super Bowl first before selling books about it? Talk about bad timing. If this does not fire up the Giants to beat the Patriots, nothing will.

Although the Patriots have not jinxed themselves, there are plenty of others doing it for them! As a Patriots fan, here’s hoping the Boston Globe book deal still happens after Sunday, with a Patriots Super Bowl Win. I just cannot see owning “18-1: The Historic Collapse of New England’s Beatable Patriots”, although I am sure it would become a New York best seller!
