One nugget picked up today at Super Bowl media headquarters: The NFL has issued 4,786 media credentials to those who will report on Super Bowl XLII, which marks the largest media contingent in the history of the Super Bowl.The previous record was 4,516, set last year in South Florida. -- Boston Globe

Vrabel: Giants are unbeaten
As far a Mike Vrabel is concerned, the Patriots aren't the only unbeaten team playing in Super Bowl XLII. "To me the Giants are just as undefeated as we are," the Patriots linebacker said late yesterday soon after his unbeaten team landed in rainy Phoenix to begin preparations for Sunday's game. "They haven't lost a game in the playoffs," Vrabel said. "To me that makes them undefeated." -- NY Post

Did You Know?
Eight of the past 10 Super Bowl-winning coaches have been on their second head coaching job. After this Super Bowl, in which New England's Bill Belichick will oppose New York's Tom Coughlin, it will be nine of 11. -- NFL Network

How About That?
For a team with such an impressive roster, it is surprising that quarterback Tom Brady's backup has so little experience. Matt Cassel threw only 33 passes at USC while backing up Heisman Trophy winners Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, and has thrown only 39 passes in three seasons with the Patriots. -- Rochester Democrat and Chronicle
