Patriots bit by injury bug!

Tank Williams:

The Patriots announced that safety/linebacker Tank Williams has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season. This looks to be a major setback to the Patriots organization and their plans. Williams spent 10 of the first training camp practices working with the first-unit defense at inside linebacker.

Although Williams was not expected to be a full-time starter throughout the season, with more teams in the NFL spreading the field with three receivers, Williams figured to be a part of the Patriots' plans defending those clubs.

In addition to placing Williams on injured reserve, the Patriots also signed veteran cornerback Jeff Shoate. Shoate is a long shot to make the club.

Junior Seau:

Junior Seau was asked in a recent interview if he's spoken with Bill Belichick at all about returning with the New England Patriots. "Yeah, we talked, but again there is nothing to report," Seau responded. "Obviously, I have to be healthy enough to get in there and perform at a high level and right now I'm not ready." Seau had surgery to repair his rotator cuff earlier this offseason. He pointed out though that even if he could return, the Patriots would have to have a need for his services. If he does returns to the NFL, he said it will only be with the Patriots. That is good to know.
