Patriots vs. Dolphins: Game Day Notes

The Patriots released their Friday injury report, and it appears they could be a running back or two short Sunday against the Dolphins. LaMont Jordan, who ran for 62 yards on 11 carries in a 19-10 win over the Jets last Sunday, is listed as doubtful with an injured foot, while Laurence Maroney is questionable with a shoulder injury. Look for Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk to pick up the slack.

Tight end Benjamin Watson, who has missed the first two games with a right knee injury, looks primed for a return in this Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Jerod Mayo, The Patriots' first-round draft choice has been on the field for every snap through the team's first two games, the only defender to do so.

Second-round draft choice Terrence Wheatley was inactive in Sunday's win over the Jets, while third-round pick Shawn Crable has been inactive for both games. Belichick was asked if both players have hit roadblocks in the learning curve. "No," he replied. "I think this is a good rookie class. I think they all work hard. They're all attentive. They've been out there on a consistent basis and they're getting better. I'd say Terrence and Shawn are smart guys, they work hard, and they're picking things up at a good pace.

Dolphins in focus: The Dolphins look like one of the NFL's weaker teams at this time, but the organization is on the right track. It's going to take some time to add more talent throughout the roster. The Patriots figure to key on running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, looking to put the Dolphins into longer-yardage situations (Miami is just 6 of 25 on third down through two games). Bill Belichick believes Will Allen is one of the NFL's top corners, so it will be interesting to see how much the Patriots try to challenge him.
