Avoid the Hype, Ignore the Noise!

Don't consider this just another run of the mill Super Bowl for the New England Patriots, just because they are playing in their fourth Super Bowl in seven years. There has been so much discussion and analysis about this one game that you just can not escape it. But that is exactly what this New England Patriots team tries to do: Avoid the Hype, Ignore the Noise! This slogan's posted in the New England Locker room (according to Tom Brady during his Sirius Radio Interview today). All season, the Patriots have just focused on the game that is before them, and won one game at a time. Their goal was never to go 16-0 or 19-0. But the goal always was to return to the Super Bowl, and win it. Now with one game left, the Patriots are in position to do just that.

“We’ve got to win one more game, and we’ll be talking about it for the rest of our lives,” Brady said on WEEI this week. “This will have an impact on all of us. Any time Larry Izzo is introduced at an event, it’s going to be Larry Izzo, member of the 2007 New England Patriots. That’s what you’re hoping for -- to be like the U.S. Olympic hockey team back in (1980). We have a chance to do something that’s never been done before.”

As fans, we know that this game is a defining moment on how the Patriots will be perceived not only this season, but as a Dynasty as well. Everything is on the line here no matter what the Coaches or Players say. Win or Lose, this game has historical significance:

Greatest Ever: 19-0: The Historic Championship Season of New England's Unbeatable Patriots

OR

Biggest Disappointment: 18-1: The Historic Collapse of New England’s Beatable Patriots

Last week, Coach Coughlin told his Giants team that no one remembers the losing team in the Super Bowl. This statement will not hold true though with a Patriots loss on Sunday. Everyone will remember who loss Super Bowl XLII!

As Brady said, "it’s a day they’ll be talking about for the rest of their lives." So do the Patriots this Sunday raise to the level of Sport Royalty or just become the court jesters of the NFL?
